Twisted Sister

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

I have been waiting so long to see this one bloom. I went out just now and found it has 13 blooms on it! The smell in the air was undescrible!
I just hate that I am going to have to cut it back! How on earth do you folks cut them back when they are in full bloom? I can't bring myself to do it! We are due for a frost here in a day or so, What do I do????

She's beautiful Mollybee!

Mollybee,

I like it. Funny, I've searched at BGI for a pic of it and didn't find it! Very pretty. Could you save me a cutting?

Brinda :)

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Mollybee, throw a light weight blanket over it at night and hope for the best. It won't kill it to get a frost on it, only a hard freeze will do that. You may still have enough time to enjoy her if you can protect her at night from the frost. Pretty blooms.

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

Molly she is beautiful :-) I know that one day I'll be facing the same delimma and Im not looking forward to it either

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Mollybee, your plant is beautiful.
It's not easy to cut up the Brugs when they are in bloom. I waited till the very last minute till I knew we were going to get a hard frost.

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

Thanks ya'll glad ya like her.

Brinda Sure will!

Just breaks my heart to think of cutting it :( but that is the way it goes huh?
I think I can, I think I can, I have to, I have to. LOL

Covington, LA(Zone 8b)

You could run a light to the brug you want to save , drop it down between the strongest branches, and turn it on. Then cover the plant with a blanker. The heat from the light saves our citrus from frost.

Barnesville, GA(Zone 8a)

Molly, don't think of cutting yet, it's too pretty and there's no frost warning yet!

I sure have to wonder who and why that one was named,
anyone know the story?

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

I have it. Wondering here, also?

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

Larry Smith is the hybridizer and named it for the tendrils, they twist.

Commerce, GA(Zone 8a)

Beautiful blooms!! I have the perfect solution! I will come to Ga, dig this one up, transplant it to FL! LOL!!

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

Come on GagalinFl, Long as you give me a cutting of it first LOL
I so wish I lived in a better zone for just this reason!

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Mollybee, beautiful picture! It looks like a heavy bloomer :)

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

I think this one is my favorite so far. The thing is, it took soooo long to bud/bloom out.
Is it just me or do most all the brugs wait until late fall before they put on their biggest show of the year?
I mean I have had blooms during the summer months but seems like everyone of mine are full of buds and blooms right now!

Barnesville, GA(Zone 8a)

Mine too! Are yours in the ground or pots?

Of course 98% of mine were only 2 ft high when put out in pots late April and May. I thought that was the reason.

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

It drives me crazy to have them all budded up when frost is knocking on the door. I think they do this on purpose so you won't cut them!

Mollybee - I created a Twister Sister entry in the database ;) It's awful boring without a picture... *hint**hint* http://brugmansias.com/go/59895/

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Very nice Molly. Yours didn't deleaf like mine did. It's full of blloms and no leaves. LOL

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

O but my stalks are naked from the ground up to almost the top. Seems I'd have to pick yellow leaves off of it every day but all the while it was putting out new leaves in the very top.
