What an unusual plant. Would love to have one; but given the climate I will be satisfied looking at your beautiful photo.

Thanks, it is one of my favorite plants.....I've had it for about 20 years. Portions of it have crested, which makes it all the more interesting.

It is a prolific grower, I've split some of it into another pot and will be breaking up the large pot into four seperate containers come spring. It colors up when it exits the greenhouse in May. Because of the high temps we've been having it is still outside this year, but will soon go into shelter for the winter.

jagonjune - this is easily grown as a houseplant or under glass, but usually needs summer sunshine and fresh air to flower. (A little diluted fish emulsion will also promote flowering.)

What a beautiful flower! The colors are nice and the cresting is just wonderful. Thanks for sharing.
