all over my passion vine. I watched her for quite a while, she laid lots of eggs.

Well, heck, my Gulf cats didn't leave any passiflora to lay eggs on. Except my vitole, thank goodness. It is blooming now.

Hi Brenda, We didn't have many butterflys this year. Too wet maybe. I'm sure glad they're making up for it now! The yard has been full of all kinds lately.

I have a passion vine that has never bloomed but proved its worth this year. The gulf fritillary cats were all over it ate it until no leaves and then I had lots of gulf fritillary butterflys everywhere.

Delisa, which Passiflora do you have? This is one of the P foetida and while the butterflys use it they don't eat it down to the vine. I saw that at Arlene's and her garden is FULL of butterflys and hummers. My neighbor has P incarnata and hers doesn't really get eaten either...

Is that butterfly right in the middle of laying an egg in your picture?
Wow! that is sooo cool!

The Butterfly in your photo is G Fritillary. I thought that was a Monarch. How can I tell the difference.

Thaumaturgist, I can recommend a great book to start off with. It is Florida's Fabulous Butterflies. It's a large paperback quick reference that is really useful. It is the first place I go to ID a butterfly. The books are available through Walmart on line or at any Barnes & Noble Booksellers
store. It's just a matter of seeing them but the white markings on the undersides of the G Frits wings are the best identifier http://davesgarden.com/fp.php?pid=40502
Here is the underside of a Monarch's wing http://davesgarden.com/fp.php?pid=434637
If you get a picture of a butterfly I know someone here will be able to ID it.
Do you go up to Ashley's (the old train depot) Restaurant much? We went for lunch last time we were in Rockledge and it was wonderful! We will be back in Rockledge at the end of this month or early February to see and photograph the Scrub Jays. It's a trip we are really looking forward to!

Thanks Floridian for your suggestions.

The Ashley's Restaurant is still here and I had been there
few times. Is Rockledge a special place for Scrub Jays ?

Here's another Butterfly on my Passionflower vine. What is
this kind?

That's a great picture of a Cloudless Sulphur. Plants in the Senna (Cassia) family are the host plants for these butterflies.
There is a place in Rockledge off Barnes where the Scrub Jays can be seen. Here's a thread I started on the Scrub Jays in Rockledge http://davesgarden.com/t/400266/
(and I LOVE Ashleys's!)

It is supposed to be Passiflora caerulea. Arlene has one too that has never bloomed.
