Just curious if anyone out there can clue me in on the senior pet profiles. I have two "senior" cats (one is about 9 1/2 or 10 years old and the other is 8 1/2 years old). Our vet recommends doing what they call a senior profile on cats when they reach the age of 8. I did this with the older cat (Frosty) and have started the process with Wrong Way (her son). They take a blood sample and do a complete blood count, check enzyme levels, etc; they do a urinalysis and a couple of other things. I was initially unter the impression that they did this baseline at 8 and then it wasn't needed again for at least 2-3 years. Well, I come back with Frosty this year and they recommended that she get a senior profile again. I'm not sure if they didn't realize she'd just had that done the year prior or if it should be done every year. Anyone out there who can clue me in? This stuff is expensive to do (costs around $200/cat for the full gammit of screening tests).
