*WAAAAAAH!!!!*
I hate brugs!
Such a beautiful picture! Such a tragic end!
Also an excuse for me to say hello to another Maineiac! lol
I was born in Saco and lived in Maine until moving to Atlanta in 1978.
My 83 yeard father now lives in Sanford.
You'll just have to stock up on catalogs so that you can dream and plan for next year.
oh poppy...... you and snowhermit and monika all on the same day! so sad.
Howdy Rett, yes .... Saco is just a hop, skip and a jump from me. Hubby likes to fish for stripers on the Saco River. Got my stack of catalogs ready :)
The picture was actually a couple of mornings ago. It's been dang cold!! I tried to go out and rake today but I got a ear ache from the cold wind blowing.
Same here: Frost, frost frost..
Must bring in the last plants tomorrow.
Poppy: Great picture and sorry for you.
It's been such a short summer for us in the north. It's been cold here too Poppy. 30's daytime temp and 20's at night. I think we're in for an early and long winter.
This picture was taken this afternoon and it's still snowing out. Everything is covered with about 1" of snow.
Better get your boots out of the closet. :(
:(
I still like shopping at LL Bean but they are a bit pricey and found some wonderful fleece clothing at Land's End http://www.landsend.com/cd/frontdoor/0,,women,00.html?sid=0687056856738111110 I odered somethings (not from the ladies section that I linked you to! lol) from them around the 1st of October. Everthing arrived within a couple of days and each item fit me perfectly. They have fleece ear-muffs and hats along with fleece gloves, etc. Ya gotta keep those ears warm!
Extended forcast says 70 next Thurs. They just make it up. Snow today from Bangor south to Northport. Wet not sticking. Don't need snow before Halloween. Speed Triple isn't ready for hibernating. 2 frogs have to be transferredfrom my shallow pond. Mid-coast Boats has a deep pond. Lots of frogs and gold-fish. We have NO idea how the fish were introduced. (gold-fish in out-door ponds is illegal here) I don't see the problem. Kingfishers have a field day.
Every day it looks like winter will be here soon and then the forecast begins looking great again. Latest forecast..........well, I think Iowa is heading into the freezer this weekend. Hate to see it happen, but maybe we will have an early spring.
I sure hope it doesn't come sooner than planned. I want to see my Herrenhauser Graten and Golden Lady finish blooming out first. They both have buds. I also have several seedlings from some of Calla's seeds that just budded.
I'm really sorry for you who are having such cold weather so early in the year. I know ours is coming but luckily not here yet. 75 degrees yesterday , and 72 today.
PoppySue, such a pretty picture if we didn't know what it really is. Donna
Sorry about the frost, but that is such a beautiful photo.
What kind of flower is that?
Kris
What a bummer. It was 92 degrees here today. Weather...keeps us on our toes.
A truely beautiful flower even in its demise. A lot of symbolism with that one.
Gorgeous photo....
We had snow today too but it didn't stick around long. I still have too much to do outside!
The flower is Knautia... it sorta like a scabiosa.
poppysue,
Enter your photo in some photo contests. It just might get somewhere. I think it is absolutely neat looking. It's great.
Carl
I really feel for you northerners. I can't believe it is so cold up there already. We are supposed to get a little cold. Only down to 40 which the brugs love. Got the plastic back on the little old GH to put my tropicals in. I don't know how much cold they can take. We were supposed to finish building new GH today but they say rain all day. Oh well I'll be wet try to move plants.
another great picture Sue. you really take great shots, ice or not!
