These are bare root and will be growing in Wisconsin's short summer. No room in the house...I have a cool storage room in my warm basement....a really cool closet w/no windows. ..."Not watching this thread anymore..also"...
I kept some of mine in pots growing indoors all winter last year, and the rest I left in the ground (zone 7b). What kind did you get?
I just read an article on storing them for winter-different than getting them bareroot, but we could skip all the drying section. After drying, it says to place the tubers in a box or other ventilated containernot allowing them to touch each other, and cover them with a layer of perlite. Then label and store ina warm area in doors where temps remain above 50F
.....Mine are Imperial Taro (Purple) they are the runner type so they can't be dried and stored like a bulb/tuber. I'll just have to find room for a large nursery pot in which I will put all of them.
......I'll probably use the potting mix I formulated for my alocasias and hope for the best.
...... I got 6 of them from farmerpickle ,he left a leaf on one of them so I could see how pretty they are...
Thanks for the advice,
shirley
