I wasn't kidding...

Here is Georgenpalais in my livingroom. You are looking toward the bay window. It will all be changed around and cuttings will be there in another week or two.

Another view of the same flower. Shows up a little more pink than it really is.

That is pretty! I think I toasted my cutting of that one. What did I miss? What are you not kidding about? You lost your window, brought brugs in and shoved them everywhere or this one is lovely? LOL

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

My bay window has disappeared.....I have to stand up to see out of it. Hey, at least I don't see the dirt on it. This brug is not special as far as I'm concerned. It has some nice color, but just doesn't do it for me. It also doesn't last well. Even in the house and out of the elements, it only lasts two days. Smells pretty good if you stick your nose right up to it, but doesn't smell up the house like others do. My friend wants to grow it and hybridize with it, so when she comes down, it is out of here. I'd send you cuttings Michele, but there isn't anything to cut without taking the top out of it. I'll tell Renee that we need some of the cutting material next year though.

Oh, don't worry about it! I'll go on your word and say I do not need it! I am still trying to decide which of mine stay and which go and it would be a whole lot easier if the darn things would bloom! LOL I imagine next year, a whole bunch of mine will be put out of their misery. Like you, I am going to have to pick and chose which ones I am willing to slave over.

Brugie, I haven't had any pink blooms. I am very new with the brug growing thing. Yours looks very pretty to me but I don't have anything to compare it to. Do you think if I move some of my seedlings, the largest ones are in onlu 6" pots, out to the pretty much unheated Bonsai room that they will still grow but slow down. Donna

Shirley,
MY GP is a beauty...I think it has the darkest of all the pinks.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Donna, if they are already well rooted in those pots, I'd move them up to a gallon or bigger pots. It is hard to tell you what you could do to keep them growing without knowing what size they are now. Light and warmth will keep them growing in most cases. Maybe pot size would help too. If your bonsai room is very cold, they will not grow, but will just sit waiting for warm again. If it is too cold out there and any of your seedlings are versicolors, you may find that you can lose them. They like their feet a bit warmer than others can tolerate.

Gloria, maybe I'll hang in there one more year and see it bloom in the summer. I'm just having so much trouble finding room for all of them that I want to keep. Thanks.

Brugie, I have 4 Versa Peach X Pink Beauty. They are very healthy looking and 18" to 24" tall. Have some other crosses that are almost 30" tall. I did move 3 out to the Bonsai storage room today. I have an old table in front of a fairly large west facing window. I don't let it freeze in there but don't keep it much above 40 degrees. Today it got up to 70degrees outside. Opened my windows here in the house for a couple of hours. I was planting plants that i bought 10 days ago at a large nursery near the coast. I got all 9 of them planted, besides having to remove, cut, out and prune other things to make room. I am glad to come into the house and sit down. Donna

The versi. seedlings might be okay out there, but I think I would like them to be another ten degrees warmer, especially since they are seedlings. I'm enjoying my sit in front of the computer right now. Today I got all of my 20 kinds of cannas ready for storage. I'm way behind schedule with my fall clean up work. Tomorrow will be the big day. Hopefully almost everything will be done at the end of the day and then I'll really enjoy the sit.

Brugie, I'm sure glad I don't have to dig up cannas. They can just stay in the ground here, thank goodness.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Yes you are lucky. They are a pain and as cheap as I can buy them, I don't know why I dig them up either except that they are kinda yucky in the spring.

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Miss Brugie, I think it is pretty and Gloria did tell me how lovely hers was.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I suppose it isn't fair judging it in the fall and in the house. I'll give it another shot just because Glory and Frannie have encouraged me with their posts.

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

I think that is a good idea Brugie because you should see what it looks like in the summer. We will somehow have to come up with a cutting for our sweet Renee in the spring or early summer.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Brugie, it's really pretty.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Thanks you guys. I'm sure Renee won't mind waiting until summer to get one and maybe this one will put out a bottom shoot before then and she can see the blooms next year too.

Beautiful Shirley.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Thanks Donna. It wouldn't be a favorite, but I guess I should give it a chance to bloom in the summer. I might change my mind.
