I did a search to see if I could find any discussions about growing it in Zone 7, but did not find any information from anyone who has successfuly grown it in your zone. I found several people who stated it has survived in Zone 8a. Probably it would need a lot of protection in 7a and I am hesitant to state that the roots would survive even if heavily mulched. You could grow it in a large container and move it into a protected area in the winter. Also, you could grow it in the ground and take cuttings before the winter sets in. It roots quite easily. The only thing about this is that the plants would probably never reach a very large bush size. Perhaps someone in Zone 7 who has tried to grow this plant will see this post and add a comment. I am sorry that I can not be of more help to yoiu.

I appreciate your comments. I think this year I will plant in a container and overwinter in the garage. Early Spring I will place in the ground and hopefully it will build up a strong network of roots. I will let it stay outside and take cuttings "just in case" it doesn't live the winter.

I found the plant at wall-mart and couldn't resist. Such Charm!

Is your shrimp plant in fun sun. I just purchased a shrimp plant and there is very little shade around my home, so should I keep it watered more often because of this

Mine are in part shade and filtered shade; however, shrimp planys will grow in full sun also.
