Looking for Datura discolor 'Raspberry Swirl'

Princeton Junction, South Korea(Zone 6a)

Hi everyone! I'm looking for Datura discolor 'Raspberry Swirl' - the one with the big white blooms and dark violet throat. It has black seeds and I'm hoping I can find someone at Dave's garden who has some to trade. I had a generous person send me some this spring but I misplaced the entire packet and it's driving me nuts!

LMK if anyone has some to trade. I've got too many seeds to list here. Some recent fresh harvests from this month include:

Orange tamarillo (C. betacea) - Tree tomato, featured in Thompson and Morgan's 2003 catalog

Passiflora edulis - 30 seeds/trade

Leonotus leonorus - lion's ear - 30+ seeds/trade

Hopi Rattle Gourd - seeds originally grown from Seeds of Change - 20 seeds/trade

Wee Be Little mini round pumpkin - the size of a baseball, dark orange, and smooth skinned. 30 seeds/trade

Jack Be Little pumpkin - classic mini orange pumpkin, ribbed and flattened. Used for decorations.

Mini Snowman gourd - 4" tall, 20 seeds/trade

Also have lots of delphiniums, Cobaea scandens in purple and lime green, named morning glories, heirloom sweet peas, herbs, chile peppers, and heirloom tomatoes among others.

Thanks in advance!

Pinkangel - your nickname sounds familiar. Have you bee in Gardenweb earlier? Do you remember ever sending a cactus or anything else to Finland?

Elizabeth,

I've never seen Raspberry Swirl before, unless it is the same as datura tatula. Google and see if that is the same? I received seeds this year from Happenstance in her generous offering. You might email her and see if she has any left.

Hi pinkangel, I have some!

Would be happy to send for some heirloom tomatos:

Garden peach - Eva Purple Ball -

Have other Datura and Bruugmansia seeds as well.

Perhaps we can trade? Also interested in your Hibisucs'Moy Grande'.

Thanks,

John

Hi Pardancanda,

We've traded before! About a year ago maybe - you sent me nice cuttings of Hibiscus 'Blue River II' along with some other hibiscus seeds. Thank you! They are doing beautifully.
I would love to trade with you again. I had no idea how difficult it was to find Datura discolor on the trade forums. Would be happy to send you all of the above as well as others. Send me an email and we'll go over the details. I'm in NJ for this month.

Hi Evert!

Yup! How is he doing? I still think about the day I mailed it to you and laugh. I don't think anyone I know has ever mailed an Old Man cactus to Finland! Let me know how you're doing as well.

He is doing fine :) I just wish it would grow a bit faster ;)

Hi Brinda,

Thanks for your input. Datura discolor 'Raspberry Swirl' is distinctly different in appearance from Datura tatula which is has light lavender, star shaped blooms. Debby from Iowa was generous to share her seeds with me of both varieties this spring and I don't know where I put the Rapsberry Swirl seed packet. I'm too embarassed to email her for another packet. She posted a beautiful picture of it on Dave's garden. It should be under Plants Database.

Evert - good to hear. Remember, he's old so give him some time. ;)

Has he learned to speak your native language yet? ;0

I just ran across this thread. Oh, Brinda, I'm blushing. Thanks for that wonderful compliment.
PinkAngel did contact me and I sent more of the seeds for her wonderful gardens. We started trading seeds at GW years ago. She is such a sweetie. I need to mail her thanks to. She sent the most wonderful surprise of seeds in return.
