Harvesting Bananas

Corpus Christi, TX(Zone 9a)

I can use all the advice I can get on harvesting bananas. One stalk is beginning to ripen and two others are still green. Will post pics tomorrow.

I hope you are eating those bananas that are already gold. I would think as soon as they begin to turn that you could pick them. Bananas are shipped to markets totally green. They look great and I'll bet, taste wonderful. I'd be baking banana bread every day and gaining more weight than I care to think about. Your mom looks great and those hibiscus are very pretty too.

Oh my, so pretty and Burgie is right. Get those Golden Yellow ones on the table and leave the rest to get a little more color. They will taste better if you let them ripen on the tree more. Otherwise your in good shape.......

Your mom's in great shape too............ I hope I look that good at 83.......:o)

MIne are all still green! I am so jealous. Are those the kinds with lots of seeds? Have you tried one yet?

Corpus Christi, TX(Zone 9a)

No seeds. My mom made a bunch of banana nut bread and muffins. I brought some to work today for coworkers.

I am still waiting for mine to ripen.......isn't this fun?

They look scrumptious and tell you mom we could use some of those muffins here at DG!
Wonder if mine will actually ever get bananas on it. I did get a pineapple last year, so I guess anything is possible. I have the 'african red' and it is getting its first blossom or whatever you call it!
