This is on my must try list for next summer. How hard is it to grow from seed? Anybody willing to share some with me? I can send a SASE.
Black eyed susan vine
Lenjo, I have plenty and will be glad to send you some. They are very easy to grow, just give them plenty sun and something to climb on.
I would be interested in some too for an SASE if you're offering. I am just getting started with gardens and am looking forward to trying some new stuff. How do I know where to send my SASE?
Thanks!
Wonderful, busybee, I will email you my address.
Busybee, I grew this for the first time this year from a secret swap in the spring and I love it. Where are the seeds and what do they look like? Are they in the papery pod left after the flower is gone? I've looked in them and find only a long white stamen. I simply was amazed at how rapid the growth was and how many blooms it has. It is still somehow blooming it's head off. Any info will be appreciated. Thanks, Lou
Yes Lou,
They are in the papery pod. They will get about the size of a pencil eraser in there and the papery covering will be open. I pick most of mine when they are fat and turing yellow. If they get brown inside they will pop and the seed are lost, There is two seed in each pod.
Sorry about the photo being fuzzy but this is a seed pod and one that hasn`t popped yet.
