Summer is gone...

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

and the busy season is over. The hustle and bustle of watering, fertilizing and repotting is finished and the plants are all under cover for the winter.
Now it's time to rest and get back to the computer and DG Brug forum.
Here's one of my gardens that kept me busy this summer.

Plays, I've got some pictures I'm saving for those cold snowy winter days. :)

Hattiesburg, MS(Zone 8a)

Snow, sorry your cold weather has driven you inside. You need to come south. I am in the middle of my hustle and bustle of getting ready for winter. On top of the usual stuff, doubled the size of my hoop house and had to wait forever for plastic to arrive. Makes me nervous. Can't wait to see the pictures you have saved up for winter.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Barb, I think of moving south more each day.
I'm glad your plastic came in time.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Hi Barb. Off topic here (forgive me snow). I was just googling gingers and found your list. Awesome list!
Now back to our regularly scheduled program.
Snow, you have created quite a few beauties this year. Have you already planned your crosses for next year?

Hattiesburg, MS(Zone 8a)

Liz, can we ship gingers across borders?
After this I am going to bed-you folks stay up late and Snow it is really late there.
Just a note- have you had trouble using pollen that you have ref. or put in freezer. I find the results are not good. Pollinate a lot but I am either doing it to soon or the pollen isn't good. Although it is only a month or so old. Just the ramblings of a tired old women. I'm mad-the bees are still better at this than I am. LOL

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Barbara, don't feel bad. LOL Every thing I pollinated fell off and the bees done a wonderful job. They just failed to write down their crosses. So I have no idea what they are.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Barb, I have to start pollinating early in the spring in the GH in order to give the pods enough time to ripen in my 3 month growing season. All pollen I use in the spring has been frozen from the previous summer so it is anywhere from 6-9 mo old. I take it right out of the freezer and apply to the stigma.
I collect the pollen on the first or second day the flower opens, as soon as it is fluffy.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Your crosses are fantastic. Just think what you could do with a long growing season.

Will be waiting for those pics this winter, will need them desperately!
