One week ago I posted a picture of a brug just loaded with buds and was wondering if it would bloom before the frost arrived. http://davesgarden.com/t/403401/ Today the display is more than I could hope for. Beautiful.
It beat the frost !!!

Very pretty Padre - and wow the leaves look healthy - no bug holes. Good work!

VERY NICE!!! I'm so glad the frost waited for your plant to bloom before coming *grin*!
I am so happy that you got to see flowers open before frost. It certainly is a sight to behold.

What a beauty. Glad you got to see it bloom. Looks as if you know how to grow them!
Great job, that's a beautiful sight.
Way to go Padre and Mother Nature. Great looking brug.
That is just beautiful, Padre, and since I love the pinks, which one is that? Hope I have one like it.
Yay Padre!!!! Our prayers were answered! And she sure is a beauty.
minigrannie, I don't know which variety this is. I got the plant from crestedchick at the NERU and she wasn't sure what it was either. It is too large to bring in as it is so I'll be making cuttings from it to reduce it to a manageable size. PLMK if you want a cutting. It will be a week or so before I bring it inside. I appreciate all the positive comments I've received but I am reminded of the spiritual axiom, "Can the chizel take credit for the statue carved?"
Beautiful, Padre! Glad they beat the frost for you. That's an impressive display.
You did a great job with it Padre!!!
Padre, how are the locals taking to your new project?I bet you are getting lots of nice comments!
Rootdoctor, I have had a steady stream of people coming to visit the brugs. They heard about them from others in their department on the campus. The mailroom staff came by to see what all the 'cuttings' I was receiving would look like. The grounds crew, professors and students as well as secretaries and housing staff all came by. This morning the head of the biology department came for a tour and was impressed enough to allow me to use a room in the biology building to winter some of the brugs as well as my extra pots, bags of potting soil, etc. The room is very convenient to the roof-top greenhouse I have been using. I might even move the seed germinating flats and light racks over there - more room than in my bedroom :-) But then some would say, 'Why don't you just move your bed over there and get on with it.':-)
Padre, congratulations is in order. am so happy for u. u sure have done a great job. thanks for sharing u're lovely plant.
