First timer here on Tropicals - be gentle - LOL

Frederick, MD(Zone 6a)

Well, Shirley1 put the bug in me this spring. Honestly, I had no idea what you could do up North!

My very few baby mandevillas and jasmine are tucked in the basement but we've had such warm weather, this guy wanted to be out in the sun today.

Is it bad to bring this tibouchina in and then out again? Also, any tips on what to do, if anything, to them over the winter?

Thanks in advance for 'newbie' info.

Hmm, no tips from me;)

But thew plants look beautiful. They are in great shape. And clear shot too.

Boy Dea thats a really pretty one, just make sure it has good lighting, grow lights should be enough, and it should be fine. Don't overwater it, leave it drier than you would in the summer. Don't know much about basements but hope the humidity is up a bit too.......

I just saw this in Iowa, what a great plant this is!!!
Shirley questioned me on it,and I had no answers.
It's a keeper!

Dea, I am not quite sure what I'm going to do with mine yet. Maybe trim it back some before I bring it in. I've not been successful with cuttings so I don't want to lose it. I'll probably have to put it in the basement under lights. I sure don't have any room left upstairs. They sure are a pretty plant.

Stunning! Shirley how did I miss yours?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I don't know Sue. It was sitting right out in front of that big bed, in a pot. It is still outside. I've got to whack it back and bring it in before I forget and it frosts.

I really didn't think blue could be neon, but in this pic it sure looks it.

Shirley keep me in mind if you try any starts off this plant please. I don't think I'm going to make it over before first frost! I'm supposed to be a grandma next week and that has kept me away from home alot.

Sue, we already had a killing frost here a couple of weeks ago. It got down to 22 in Ottumwa. My flower beds are pretty well cleared off now. I've tried to take cuttings from the Tibouchina and have had absolutely no success. Wow, you are going to be a grandma? You don't look old enough for that. Hope you are ready. It is a whole other world out there when we take on that role.
I forgot to mention that it was in the greenhouse when we got the freeze. My brugs are pretty sick looking except for those I filled the garage with.
