I took a lot of cuttings from my brugs and did them up in sphagnum moss, dipped in rooting gel, wrapped in kitchen cling wrap and aluminum foil. I'm finding that in just a few short days, any of the cuttings that are pencil thin (as in diameter) are turning to mush at the tops.
Is there some way I can save these?
HELP - CUTTINGS TURNING TO MUSH!!!
I would pull them ASAp so the others do not go bad and cut off the mush parts. Try planting them directly into dirt, it will keep them dryer. I have heard rooting powder is a fungicide, maybe dip both ends into the powder?
Maybe you have them covered up too much so they can't get any air. Did you do it the way Poppy Sue does? She has great luck evidently with her way.

good luck!
Kell - I did them individually as per Tonny. Thanks for the help. I'll unwrap those that I've already done up and try and dry them off a bit.
The real green ones seem to rot more than the hardwood ones. I am not familiar with Tonny's way. Less water with the green ones is probably better.
Kell - I found a link to Tonny somewhere (can't locate it now) and he showed basically the same way as the hyperlink you've indicated, but I did mine individually. At any rate, I am going to undo all the cuttings I've done this way and redo them. Thanks again. I am freaking out!
Well Tonny and Sue know what they are doing more than I do. I just rely on my general gardening knowledge most of which I learned the hard way. 30 years of it! I am a slow learner.
Don't freak out, all can be replaced. Unless you have a double purple in there! LOL
The green ones are harder to get going. I've had a couple turn to mush in the moss too... so don't feel bad. Don't keep the moss too wet. I soak the moss in warm water with a little seaweed solution diluted in it. Then I sqeeze out the extra water when I do the cuttings. I also use rooting powder on the green cuttings. The tender tips may start to wilt... so you can cover them with a plastic tent to help keep moisture in. Take the platic off to let them breath every once in a while. If you can give bottom heat that will help too. Cold and wet will lead to rotting.
Sometimes it seems like those green tip cuttings won't root no matter what you do.
Thanks for the encouragement kell and poppysue - I will try and redo some of them in earth with the slightly wet bags puffed up as tents. It is really the small tip cuttings that turned all soft in the exposed parts.
