When?

When are we going to get some rain? Twice it seems to have rained over night, and I've laid in bed thinking great, that'll make things recover. But in the morning when I've wandered round the garden, the soil is still like dust!!Not a sign of any moisture anywhwre.
Some plants that I put in in the latter part of sumeer are really struggling,I keep getting out the hose and soaking them, but next day it's bone dry again. i guess the soil is so dry that whatever I put on just dissapears, I've evn tried leaving the hose lying there for hours, but that doesn't seem to make a difference.
I'm sure that when it starts it'll never stop, and I'll be wishing for a dry day, but at the moment I wish it would do something.I have plants waiting to go in, but there's no point until the ground is moist.

Plenty of rain lying here! We're truly into mid-autumn now! I'm still going out to the North York Moors on Sundays - it stops at the end of this month for the winter. I don't go if it's rainy - only cancelled one day this year (brilliant weather!) but this Sunday I'm not sure about. No point trailing about wet and cold!

hi Northener, hows things going? Still struggling on?
My hubby went to college at Ilkley, and is always going on about the North York Moors, how beautiful it is etc....Sometimes think he wishes he'd never moved down here!!
We went to Exeter last weekend to visit my daughter and grandchild,. It was very noticable on the way down that the fields here in Dorset ,the grass was yellow and parched, looked more like they would in August, then as you got nearer to Devon, they became greener.
Like I said earlier, i'm sure that in a months time I'll be moaning that it's too wet...LOL

Here in The netherlands we had sooooo much rain past two weeks...so the garden is very wet. Sure it's autumn overhere and it came much to fast for me as always. I hope we 'll have a few sunny days to get my garden ready for winter. Next week forecast tells we'll get cold nights. Temps around 4C...so nightfrosts are just around the corner brrrr...

Reckon you had our share of the rain then Saya, we don't seem to get extremes of anything here ( luckily) apart from winds.
Being on the South coast we often get high winds (though not much of that either this year)they normally wait until my grasses have grown tall, and things start to flower, then they come with a vengance, flattening everything in their path.

Wish it was possible to share our weather Sue!

Hi Sue! I'm still plodding on with my project at uni. Took a bit of a break during the summer, but starting to think about it again now. I've enrolled in a couple of undergraduate classes cos I wasn't confident enough in some directions. I'm doing a course on digital imaging and one on multimedia using Flash. I'm sat at the uni tonight playing around with Photoshop - Im intending to create a gallery within my CD-rom, so I've been out most of the summer taking pictures of the Tees Valley.

I also had some days out in the North York Moors - much prettier than the Tees Valley! We had a brilliant summer! I now have hundreds of digital images to play with!!!!!!

I really admire you doing all that,I still struggle with the basics of computers, let alone anything more advanced!!..:-)
My daughter bought a leaflet home yesterday , they're giving parents the opportunity to take lesson on the computer ,4x 1 1/2 hour slots.A very good idea.
When my brain is more together, and less like a slush-puppy, I'm determined to advance my skills .

we have been overcast for a while but no serious rain in the last few weeks. It did rain enough about a month agao for me to catch 2 buckets of rain to fill my half barrel. No it didnt rain that hard it we have a leak in the gutter at work

Lessons sound a good idea! Ive joined two new classes this semester, one is one digital imaging, and the other on animation using Flash. I've taken hundreds of photos this year so I'll have to tart some of them up. If I ever have time! I prefer to use spare time going out and taking more photos!

I mightn't be posting here much longer btw, my subscription needs renewing and I can't afford it - no job. :(
