what is this?

Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

I know I should post it in the ID forum, but I think someone here might know it.

A friend gave me some seeds last year, no name. It is some sort of Hibiscus. The foliage looks like the "Texas Star" hibiscus. The leaves are lobed, they are 5 lobes per leaf and it is serrated. The plant itself is at least 6 foot--just as the Texas Star. Can someone ID it?

Here is the link from where I had it last year. LOL http://davesgarden.com/t/340237/ I think the general consensus was H. cannibinus and apparently a lot of people got them from Arlene.

I call it Swamp Hibiscus,I think texas star has a star shaped bloom, this one is fully round, very nice color indeed!TS is more red.IMHO.

Chele, I was also very worried about what was growing..I didn't want to go up river..lol..I emailed a friend in a panic..LOL! Anyway, I am sure they will be seeds...awfully nasty stem though.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Maybe the kids would not steal it out of my front yard, like they did the smooth stemmed TS,LOL!
I will have to take a picture for you,I was out checking out a stone barn,it was great, also had K weed growing all around it,pretty buds, you could see where some kids had cut on it,LOL!it is not a bad looking plant, wonder if you could get a permit to grow it?I would hate to dig one out of a ditch and go to jail.

LOL It is not so much the flower I am after as it is the leaves. ;) I like the shock factor. Well, I do until the County sheriffs come dig up my yard. LOL
