Never-Never Plant, Oppenheim's Ctenanthe 'Tricolor'
Ctenanthe oppenheimiana

Commonly used as a house plant. Very rich colors of emerald green and creamy white variegations on front side of leaves, with deep wine reverse on leaves extending into the stem & base. Leathery, shiny leaf with a smooth texture. Requires much humidity & shade. No sun.

My, what a dramatic plant and a dazzling photo! Those colors are super! And the leaves have a real sturdy look. It must make an exciting shade plant. How old is your plant? Thanks for posting.

Hiya roshana!
It was a pleasure to share it here on DG..everything else I have seems to be so common..LOL

Yes, it seems to be a very nice plant so far. I don't know it's age,I would assume it's an adult as they grow slowly.
They are not too easy to find, this is the first one I have seen shopping in a long time..but that could just be my area??
It's a shade plant for sure! Likes lots of humidity & moisture..hope I don't drown it..:>)

That is a real beauty!

I love plants that have a differant color; on the backside of the leaves. It add such a contrast.

Thank you for sharing your picture.

MsC.....I found a stromanthe sanguina tricolor at Wal-Mart yesterday. I had never seen one before, and it looks just like your picture! The tag on it said it was a "Sun Perennial", but I always look up on DG PF for info from people who have actually grown one.

It's going in my shade garden, and will have plenty of FL humidity. Thank you for the information. Now, at least, it has a fighting chance to survive my care! LOL.

Hope all the critters are well.

I ve had this plant living in FULL sun for five yrs now in Houston Texas. We have brutal summers and this plant just thrives. So I disagree that its a shade plant.
