Look at these aerial roots!

This is a Sunset/Maya that I was given earlier this summer. A lady who is in the hosta club with my mom & sister brought in a bunch of small brugs, & told the members that any that weren't taken by someone would go in a dumpster because they weren't going back home with her! Her greenhouse was too full. It had been in a greenhouse & the trunk was covered in moss. I noticed recently that the trunk has all of these roots on it. They were going to ask her if she put anything special on them to cause it, but she wasn't at the last meeting.

Gosh... that's strange! Maybe it's from the humidity and moisture?

I know it's not the same, but I had pineapple sage do that when the soil in the pot would dry out. I guess it went looking for it's own moisture. I imagine if the lady's plants were that abundant or crowded, that could very well be your answer-the soil didn't stay moist enough so the plant tried to adapt.
