Does anyone know where I can buy some cheap netting to put over my pond for the winter to keep the leaves out? This spring it took 2 of us 4 hours to get all the leaves out. I didn't have fish last year but do now.....I'm guessing all the leaves would kill the fish. I could probably buy some netting at a water garden store, but guessing it would cost a small fortune. Hope someone has a brilliant idea of what I could use that would be less expensive. Any ideas would be welcome. Thanks!
cheap net for pond?
Netting sold at our water garden store locally is very cheap. It's green, with 1/4" mesh, and is hardly visible. We have used the same piece for four years--the plastic doesn't break down at all. They cut the size you need off a large roll. Considering the amount of use from this one piece, cheap becomes even cheaper. I'd check with water garden places before I spent a lot of time running around for a substitute.
You can sometimes find netting in the fabric/sewing section in K-mart or Walmart or regular fabric stores. It is cheap and comes on a big roll so you can buy how much you need.
I got netting at Wal-Mart---3 yds. for less than a dollar--
Check your local nursery, I get bird netting. It is used to cover trees so the birds can't get to the fruit. Works great and lasts for several years. and it's cheap

We use bird netting too. Attached to cup hooks and rocks. We've used the same piece for several years and it's holding up very well. Does the trick for catching leaves. I saw a pic - I think on the thread "how many ponders..." -where they made a frame with netting and plastic pipe and laid the whole thing over the pond. That looked really neat! Jen
Home Depot or Lowe's has the bird netting for a good price.
I went to a water garden shop and found the amount of bird netting I needed cost $57.00. I found the same exact thing at Lowe's for $20!!! Thank you all for your help.
