First Year grower with Datura question..

Clinton, CT(Zone 6b)

Hello, All -

I purchased my first Datura plant this year - a beautiful double purple. I kept it in the large (15") pot it came in and it is still blooming away! I have allowed about a dozen of the seed pods to form - 7 or 8 of which are now a really good size - but WHEN will they be ripe? Aren't they supposed to turn brown and dry looking? They are still quite green but don't seem to be getting any bigger. I am worried the plant will be hit with frost before the seed pods ripen. I want to harvest the pods and plant them myself in pots again next year as well as try putting one in the ground this fall. Any advise for me from those of you familiar with this variety?

Thanks so much in advance

Tie a piece of panty hose around them and if it is going to frost, put the pot in the garage or under cover. The pods should go ahead and mature and with the hose around them, you won't have to worry about the pods opening and the seeds spilling out.
