tortoisekeeper, so glad to have you join DG, now one question. Do you keep tortoises??? and if so how???

Hi Candee,

Thanks for the welcome. I rescue and adopt tortoises and box turtles. They are all kept in outside enclousers with heated dog houses for the ones that do not hibernate. Young ones are brought inside for the winter. They are fed as natural a diet as possible (dandlion, clover, daylillys, althea etc). Check out my website listed below.

My goodness, I never thought about tortises needing to be rescued, but I guess they could be abused and neglected like any other animal. It looks like they have a good home with you, landscaping, condos and all.

Thanks Mary. Lots of people get them and then grow tired of them or don't have any place to keep them when they get to large. I have some that will be 150 to 200 lbs when grown. They live 75 to 100+ years. My son has already agreed to take them when I am gone.

Wow, that is big! I looked at your link and was surprised to see so many different colors, shell patterns and colorful feet.
