my shredded white

Murrells Inlet, SC(Zone 8a)

is blooming tonight. I found the flower by accident looking for cats. I really like it. The bloom is very unique on this one.
I don't know how many of you have this one on your fav list but it's a keeper for me.

sorry no pic but I also found out one thing about this flower tonight and that's the fact that you will not turn it upside down or right side up however you want to put it to take a picture of it without all of the petals breaking off. When I turned it up they just started snapping off!

It is really different isn't it Cat? I had just one a month or so ago. Now I do not even know where I put the plant! LOL. I remember when I first saw this one I was so desperate for it.

I love it, too! Mine has buds on it that should be opening in another week or two. They're big, but they haven't split yet. I have five brugs blooming right now! This is the first time that I've had more than one blooming at one time. Gotta go smell them one more time before bed.

I didn't even realize mine was blooming. I just knealt down to look at the plant next to it and happened to see the flower was open.

Has anyone ever been able to make a cross wiht this one or does it make pollen? I was so taken with the bloom that I didn't think to check for pollen.

Wouldn't it be great if we could make a pink or gold one like this? Especially a pink one with whiskers about 2-3 inches long.

Ouch! I had to pinch myself. I think i'm dreaming here again!

Dream away, everybody else does! I'm planning to try a cross, but I've never done it before so don't expect miracles. (I'll be the one doing that!) One of my shredded white buds was split open this morning, so it shouldn't be too much longer.

looking at mine a little while ago I found another bud that is split and has started to turn white already. I'll be looking for pollen on this one and will also be looking to see what I have blooming to use on it should it have all of the reproductive parts.

I have two Shredded White brugs, one had one bloom open before the weather here got so hot and stayed that way. Now they both have buds about 4" long on them One I can move into the GH if weather gets too cold but not the other. So I may get to see a bloom or two yet. Donna

Donna you'll probably get a lot of blooms in your greenhouse. Last year I had quite a few go on to bloom in my basement after they were brought inside.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

David, you better start looking now. Takes a while to figure the parts out, once you find them. I couldn't find pollen on mine. Always dry and the stigma was all curled. Very strange inner workings on this one unless mine was just strange. It did smell good though.
