Another Refugee from "Elsewhere"

Brooklyn, NY(Zone 7a)

Hi all,

I am another refugee from "elsewhere", was kindly referred by Maggie (thank you SOOOO much). Just got here, like it already.

Seeing lots of names I haven't seen in a while.

Dave: this looks GREAT so far, as you can see there's lots of folks from "elsewhere" coming over here. Warm, friendly, appealing, w/ a superb format that seems most user-friendly. Thx to all & I'll be back!!

Hey Karen! How are those sansevierias doing? Have mine on a heating pad as we speak. Would you be interested in leaf cuttings from S.T. 'Lilian True?' Email me.

Welcome Plant_Girl! You'll love it here!

Make sure to pop over to the Welcome Mat forum and say hello there. The rest of the members would love a chance to meet you.

Plant Girl - Thx for the good words, didn't want to give the sites (as have heard folks been banned for that), but see someone else did, so we'll see.

Hey Sansman - enjoy meeting up w/ you here, there & everywhere!! Is S.T. Lilian True in your photo album? Offhand don't know what it looks like, but will check my copy of Hermine's book to check, & get back to ya, thx much for offering.

Mine are pretty well (except for my 'reverse stripe' S. Golden Hahnii, which I recently described to you, thought I had saved it from death's door of Mushville, but it seems to be pooping out again, this time seems very dry). All your guys doin' well I hope. What the heating pad for? Sounds curious.

hi karen!!good to see you!

Hey Karen,

I'm using the heating pad for bottom heat on these new guys I received bareroot from Grigsby. It really seems to make a difference. The patens, hargesia, eliana, hallii variegated, and hallii blue bat all have a small new growth emerging. Have had it running for about two weeks now. Would probably work even better if on constantly, but I turn it off when I'm away from home--paranoid about fires. It also allows me to water without worry because they stay warm.

Hi Guys,

Den, nice to see ya, hoping all's well, missed seeing ya around.

Sansman, thx for the info. interesting idea, am not there yet but will remember it for the future.

Pls. note: there's at least one other Karen on these 2 forums (HP & C&S), in the interest of minimizing confusion, may I pls. ask to be addressed at Pirate Girl, Pirate Karen or P.G. Just trying trying to keep the Karens straight.

Thx all & great to see everybody, especially in such an excellent site. Did y'll see that Orchid Forum is a go? A big 2 days for Dave to respond -- amazing -- talk about a contrast between the 'old home' & here!!!

You'll notice lots of differences, Pirate Karen. :-)
