About "Brugs"

Tucson, AZ(Zone 9b)

Hay ladies, I am getting down right jelious!! Your flowers are absolutely stunning. Does anyone know where I could get a cutting?? Just a little one? Sure have tried to find them and just having no luck.
Anyone can send me an email, would love to hear from you! Someone said they cannot be shipped to Arizona, yet we have Datura all over?? Who makes these rules anyway?? That is similiar to the deal with morning glories and thats another that is all over Arizona?? I don't get it. If it has to do with alergies, don't people have alergies all over the country???? To me, the more flowers the better!! Maybe thats a dumb question but I just don't get it.

I am not sure about the rules on shipping to AZ.if it is ok I will send you some cuttings.

Does anyone know?

There was a discussion on another list recently about the state regulations in AZ, NM & CA. To legally send plant material to those states you need to fill out paperwork. I suppose they are trying to prevent the importing of diseases & bugs.

San Antonio, TX(Zone 8a)

Well gang, I received many cuttings and had no problem receiveing them. I am so grateful to all of you that shared with this newbie and I hope I can do the same next year. Mine all arrive without any problems. Thank you all. I'm in Tombstone,AZ.

I sent cuttings of brugs to AZ,but I never tell the PO people what is in the box. When they ask if it's fragile, hazordous or perishable I just say no and let that be that.
If they should question me about it i'd just let them open the box and if they say you can't send these then oh well i'll bring them back home.
It's my opinion though that those laws are stupid. I mean I know there is a reason for it but why do some states such as CA not allow plants to be shipped in when CA people and nurseries ship plants out all the time to other states.

And i'm not trying to open a can of worms with this one but how and why can German nurseries send plants here but we cant send plants there,at least not legally?

San Antonio, TX(Zone 9a)

I didn't know that the German nurseries could send plants here. I thought that was why we couldn't get any of those beautiful German brugs. I'm putting my order in right now, if we can order from the German nurseries. lol

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

When sending to those states, I did not send any dirt, just wet paper towel around the bottom of cutting or roots.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

That is how I do it also.

Murrells Inlet, SC(Zone 8a)

all of the brugs I sent to AZ were fresh cut, no roots wrapped in wet newspaper.
