9 Eggs!!!

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

Last week, I noticed one (hen) of my chickens was missing for a week. I searched around here and couldn't find that black bantams hen! I fed up and I told Dh, the raccoon, possums or any critters must have got the hen. I was disspointed. Somehow last two days ago, in the morning, I went out and feed the chickens. I saw black hen there. I was so happy to see that hen. I said, where have you been? My DD was with me and later she watched that hen walked away and followed her to the hide bushes ( daylilies). I said she must be sitting on eggs. I waited and waited until she leave. I went and checked. Oh there was many eggs. I counted 1,2,3.... ( 9 EGGS). No wonder, she have been hiding in there, sitting on eggs the whole time that I have been search for her. I went and got three more eggs that know it is fertizler. I put them with 9 eggs. She can sitting on them all once. HOpe we will have some more cute chicks soon! I need to go and put chicken fence pen around that area so she and the eggs will be protect from my dogs. The chicks will be safe in there if they hatch. Keep you posted!

I let all my chickens go loose and not in the pen. I feel sorry for them so let them go loose. They come and get together on top of pen for the nights. I count them every days LOL!
