There are differing views on whether or not Rue is harmful to surrounding plants ... does anyone know the truth? If it is harmful ... to which plants?

My Rue doesn't seem to affect other plants. I handle it easily, while my housemate "Rues the day" she touches it, LOL!
Rue is said to be beneficial and a companion plant-- by planting next to raspberries and I believe Roses. Keeps certain bugs away.
