Very pretty flower!
hi wanda,
i've been admiring this peony in the catalogues and thinking about getting it. what is your opinion of it?
thanks,

Great scent---It IS a beauty, but , LOL --get it from someone who is moving a peony! You are 2 years too late for me--I dug up 6 big ones & gave them away to add more peony colors to my beds. If you buy a small root from a company, it could take 4 years to bloom.
I planted this peony from a root that had grown first in a local park for 40 years , then my Mom's place and finally in my garden. We dug some at Moby's old house last fall that moved to McGlory's and a couple of other DGers.
oh drat!!!! i just typed this note and then somehow deleted it. LOL anyhow.........i wasn't asking you for anything, i just wanted your opinion of it.
digging 6 up is a lot of work. yep and i know about buying them small and waiting, mine didn't come up for 3 years! but i bought them at a discount store, not understanding much about them, just knowing i liked them.
??? if you can..........i asked on the peony forum but got no responce. do you know if peonies will do well with tree roots? i have a full sun garden that i need to plant permanently and i need ideas on plants that will survive the roots without having to fuss with them every year. any ideas would be appreciated.
thank you for your responce.
god bless

I have had peonies planted near shrubs & bushes for years without problems. You might have problems with tree roots--is there 6 hours of direct sun on them? If the tree shades them, they will grow but not bloom.
Peonies form a very strong root over the years. I have some growing within 10 foot of a big ash tree.
i'm not sure the type of tree it is, but there is one branch that everty year is shading it more and more. but the good news is, that we will either cut that branch down, or the whole tree. got to get estimates for the 2. it is on my to do list. :-)
we have another big tree in the front of the house that is shading my other sun garden more and more each year. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh stop growing. LOL
thanks for the info.
