Oh, the heavenly scent!

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

We have had cold weather recently, so I've moved all my brugs inside. Some of the ones closer to blooming are in the living room, and the rest are scattered all around the house and basement.

Tonight when we left for the football game, my Dr. Suess was not blooming yet, but getting close. When we got home it was in full bloom and when we opened the door, DH said, "What is that smell?" They bloomed and smell wonderful! When my son got home he also wondered what *stunk*. (I need to educate my men-folk for a few more years). LOL

This is my second year with this plant and it had more buds until the wind broke off the second part of the Y. But I still have lots of blooms coming and it is so fragrant! The plant is over 5 foot tall, but I'd like to keep it going for another year before I have to reduce it to cuttings.

I'm excited and enjoying it lots. Makes all the year round babying worthwhile.

Just had to share this with someone that could understand.

A shot of my two biggest brugs. Dr Suess and the other one is unknown. I thought it was Ollie, but Glory says it's not. This one I grew from seed that Glory sent me two years ago. It's not bloomed yet this year, but soon. It bloomed white last year.

I'll spare you the photos of the overstuffed garage, basement and the rest of the house. :) Those are the ones that need another year before I'll see blooms.

Glad you are getting some blooms. Dr. Suess is an old one, but it sure is a good one.

Joan, your window is beautiful. Would love to see the rest of the house. Dr. Suess is a favorite of mine. I'll probably always have a plant from this one. Isn't that fragrance just about the best????

JoanJ, It is 40 degrees outside right now. I am going to try to move a couple of my large brugs into the house this next week. None of them have bloomed hardly at all. The new one Pink Beauty has a few pretty small buds and I would like to see a bloom.

Your photo is just beautiful. Donna

Oh, how pretty, I didn't realize that brugs had a fragrance. Still learning. I've gotten some wonderful cutting for everyone. Really looking forward to there blooming next year. If you should decide to trim this one back I would really love a cutting from it. HE HE HE. Not begging just admiring

I can't wait until I have some that have that wonderful fragrance you all talk about. My one that is big enough to bloom (old faithful) doesn't seem to have any smell.

the fragrance is released toward the sunset hours

Lovely blooms and I like Dr. Suess because of it's fragrance. You must educate those two men of yours . .LOL
I also like your window and window sill. Such a wonderful place for plants.

Thank you all so much for the compliments on the plants and the window. I'm enjoying both lots!

That bay window is such a great place for plants. I'm so glad we put that in when we built the house. I've started lots of houseplants in that window. We put a sheet of clear hard plastic over the wood on the shelf part so any water drops that I may spill and not notice won't damage the wood.

Since I visited with DH and DS about how great the plants smell, neither have referred to it as a stink again. I think it was just a shock for them to come in and be greeted with this scent they've only experienced once before, (last fall), and have forgotten about. I think they like it now, because I overheard DH telling his Mom on the phone about them and how they smell so good at night but you can't smell them at all during the day. DS showed his girlfriend the plants right away when they got here tonight :) I'm learning them, and I think they are enjoying it. :)

Brugie, I have pictures of the rest of the house, but haven't posted them all to my home building journal yet. Actually, I think I may have posted some of them, but not all. We aren't done with the house yet, but getting closer all the time. We kinda slowed down on working on the house last spring and concentrated on trying to get the yard shaped up again. This winter we will get back to finishing/decorating the house.

Hugs,
Joan
