Passiflora cyanea

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

I thought this would never bloom! I never even saw the bud coming. The flower just screamed out at me as I did my morning rounds. I love the electric blue filaments.

Lovely picture. Is this vine in the ground or a pot?

poppysue, is it hardy? That's my favorite color of blue!

Two Passiflora were given to me in 8 inch pots. I was told that they were "purple" and "red" . On examanation of the roots they appeared root bound. I opened th eroots out and replanted them in a 10" pot. It;s been two months, the plants look healthy and are growing but not a single flower.

Any help woul dbe appreciated

Thanks :)

Illiya, some passiflora are quicker to bloom than others. I've had some plants take two years to bloom, while others will bloom the first year from seed started in the winter. Be patient... they'll bloom in time.

I have this one growing in a container. I kept all my passion flowers in containers and baskets this year.

Illiya: I was told to keep my passiflora rootbound to encourage it to bloom. If it gets to the point where it dries out within a day or so of watering, it's time to transplant.
Poppysue: you just gave me the answer to the question I was about to post! Thanks!
