L'Amour

Murrells Inlet, SC(Zone 8a)

Arrived safely today and is about to go into it's new pot becuase it is rootbound in the solo cup that it was rooted in. The plant has one single flower bud that is about 3 inches long.
It was shipped in the cup so the roots have not been disturbed and I think transplanting it should be very easily done without any disturbance.
I got a great surprise when I opened the box. She had included some hoya cuttings, some hedychium greenii ginger and a few other things as well.
If and when the bud on L'Amour opens ,i'll try and get a pic for posting

You're right Susie i'll definately be babysitting that one all winter.
I got it potted up into a 1G from the solo cup. Do you think that is too big. It was rootbound in the cup.

Also got all of my remaining seedlings potted up to 50, yes fifty gallon pots.It took 2 grown men to move them to the spot they will stay in until winter before going into the GH

Gee, a lot of dirt in those 50 gallon pots!

I move my brug cuttings from 4 inchers to a gallon. Just watch your watering and do not over do it esp now that it is not summer. L'Amour seems to resent too much water. I kept my L'Amour and RK in the house till it was very warm out. They grew fine. I am going to keep them in the house all winter also, no hoop house for them! LOL

What an exciting day it has been for you. I am so happy for you and it was so sweet of your sender to tuck in extra plants. I look forward to seeing your bloom.

Kell,
You should see how much dirt is in those pots. It took several hours to get it all mixed and in them.
The 7ft seedlings that i started in 35 gallon pots are still blooming. They have to be watered everyday so I just went and bought some whiskey barrel inserts and put under them and keep those filled with water. That has to be done every other day.

That is exactly what I did Cat but on a much smaller scale. It was just too much watering twice a day. I put mosquito dunks, quarter one, in each under pot.

you may not believe it but no sonner than i can fill these underliners up the water is all taken up into the pots. No chance for mosquitos to do their thing in mine.

I came home from work today only to find that L'Amour has dropped it's one and only bud. Oh well! Maybe next time. I had actually thought about removing it myself so all of the plants energy would be focused towards growth instead of blooming.
