Stevia___Has anyone grown this?

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

I would really like to grow this ,I find conflicting info on the internet...so I would like some first hand opinions.TY
....shirley >^,,^< SB

"down the Shore", NJ(Zone 7a)

Never grew it, but it is SO SWEET! Someone recommended it to me to make Echinacea tea more palatable, but I prefer it without by far. It is far sweeter than sugar.

Silver Lake, OH(Zone 5b)

I have it in my garden right now from troy's herb co-op.
I love it! If you use just the leaves, not the powdered form, it is NOT too sweet... it is perfect.

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

i have it from the co-op too! mines doing great!

Panama, NY(Zone 5a)

I bought a plant at Home Depot, but their "tender care" pretty much had it on it's death bed before I had a chance to save it. I would love to try it again. maybe as a house plant this winter.

Kearney, NE(Zone 5a)

I grew some last year and had good luck. It was easy to germinate. I didn't dry any for later use and that was probably a mistake on my part. I thought that the green leaves had kind of a green-planty aftertaste. Does that make sense? If you want the plant to keep growing, don't let it flower. It is very very sweet.

I have grown stevia for the past 2 years. Very easy to germinate and grow. Does very well in the garden. Go for it!

Ohhhhhh Studley!.........ROTFLMAO.......That is what we call our stallions during conversation
.....I have used the commercial Stevia for a few years. Tasted first in herb teas like yerba mate'.......definately an aquired taste this tea, made from a tree bark in Australia. Bodybuilders use it (Yep,even 'da Arnold) to help dieting, unfortunately it contains some naturally occuring ephedra :~(

ANYWHO........
.........Thanks all,I will get seeds and see what comes up next year-lol.
................Done running off in all directions as usual, Buh-Bye
