What do ya think did this? It's on the main stem right before it's started to Y, ***wahhhh!!!!***. It's a Rosamond x L'amour seedling. Sould I cut the damaged part off ... with the precious Y... or let it be and see what happens. I'm afraid rot might set in if I don't cut it.
Yuck!
Why don't you try washing it off and see what happens...
Oh Sue that is a bummer! This is an awesome cross for sure! Do you think you could use a fungicide or very dilute bleach mixture to kill whatever it is?
Sure doesn't look good! Hope somone can help you. Keep us posted on what happens.
That is a new one to me. And I seem to get all sorts of yuckky things. I wonder how deep it goes. In Monica's book she talks about cutting out a rotten part and filling the hole with something so it heals over. But that was not on new green growth.
I would watch it and if it seems to be getting
bigger, cut it off and boil your clippers for 5 minutes after. I would also spray it like Chele suggested. You have nothing to lose!
Sue, if it looks like fungus or rotting, go ahead and cut it off, use a fungicide on the rest of the plant.
It looks like something chewed the stem... and then maybe a fungus set in after?? I dunno. I hate to cut it. I'm gonna try the fungicide first. I found another plant with a lesion like this but not as bad. I wonder what's doing it??
Maybe you could find a special dentist for the bugs and critters in your area to keep the dental decay from ruining your plants! ;) Sorry, I'll go to my corner now. LOL
Don't feel bad Sue, I'm having all types of issues on this end as well. I'm thinking it must be the weather. Too late in the season for me to give a hoot anymore.
Did you have the plant staked and it could have rubbed against it?
I don't think so. This is above the stake.
I am also Kristi. I email Doctor Sue nightly with the subject line: HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!
What is the name of Monica's book and can we get it in the U.S.?
wood, just email me, I handle the US orders.
