So from seed I have been waiting for the y's and they came. Then my husband said it was the wind snaped the largest y grouping of them all straight off. I did not find it for a couple of days. Is it a gonner, or will it make another top? I could cry.....They have blankets on them tonight. Calling for mid 40's.
Tears.....
Are you sure it's a goner? If the stem is still firm you might have a chance at rooting it... even if all the leaves fell off.
You're plant will be okay. It will just be a little bushier ;o) It will regrow and make new Ys. I think all of us have had this happen before. It stinks! I know...
:( that just aint right....:( sorry for you ... cheryl
I have cut tops off trees and a week or two later still got them to root. The stems seal over and hold moisture in the stems a long time.A survival tactic! The tops were thrown in a heap and waiting to be thrown out.......then bingo.I changed my mind! LOL So find the y's and recut and root them.
So sorry that your brug was broken.
You poor thing! I would be crushed. But do try to root them. If very dehydrated, just wet the inside of a plastic bag. Recut the bottom of the piece, place in cup of water. Then place entire cup with brug in a wet plastic bag and close it tightly. You will be surprised how quickly this will rehydrate the branch.
My husband said the top is long gone with the Garbage Man. Thanks for all the sympathy and advice. Let's hope it does'nt happen again. Thanks everyone.....
So sorry,Don't give up on the root, they grow like weeds!
Hoping it comes back for you, like Eclipse says, they want to survive!
oh, impiefish, i am SOOOO, SO sorry :(
My pink insignis fell & broke several weeks ago and it had such beautiful blooms :(
My first year and I was just devastated. I have just one piece that is rooting from the broken area. The others rotted :(
