Lovely picture, Laurie! Glad to see all your beautiful contributions to the PDB :) It looks like you had a great iris year.

Hi Poppysue,

I'm glad you're enjoying my photos, but they aren't all from this season. Most of them are from '01 and '02, though this particular photo of BIT MORE is from this year. I dug and divided most of my beds this summer, so bloom next year may be light. I'm looking forward to wonderful bloom in '05, though!

Neat iris! Looks like a nose-gay that grows! Is this hard to grow? How many plants does this represent? Thanks for posting this. I've never seen miniature dwarf iris before. Really special!

roshana,

BIT MORE, like most miniature dwarfs, is a piece of cake to grow as long as you live in an area with substantial freezing weather in the winter. It is extremely cold hardy, disease and pest-resistant, and can tolerate partial sun and clay soil. The clump in this photo probably contains 50 rhizomes, all grown from a single rhizome three years ago. If I had it growing in better soil in full sun, it might be twice that size!

Wow! 50 rhizomes from just one! (I knew I had spelled that wrong!!) That's really something. I think I could get hooked on those!
