Plectranthus 'Mona Lavender'

That is a beautiful plant - can you provide some details on habit, etc? Also, your setting there is really gorgeous!

What a beautiful plec. Another plant for the must have list. My hummers would love that. I agree with Dea. The setting is lovely. Is it a pond? I am afraid to put a plec in the ground here for fear I would lose my house. All of mine are confined to pots.

It actually is in a pot.
It sets behind the filter for the pond which is the water source to the right.
The real time this plant shines is on cloudy days.
The purple takes on an almost glowing look.

Ooooh just got back. What a beautiful photo record of your garden. Just gorgeous! I have to find one of these. I have 2 purples, a Zulu Queen and an unknown, but neither of them have a purple bloom.

I am a happy frog! I found one of these today. It was for sale in a beach area coffeeshop of all places. They had alot of plants and now they have my attention. I will go back. Mona is even more beautiful in person than in the photos.

I'm even more amazed w/ this plant each day.
It has now been in flower for over 6 weeks and shows no signs of stopping.
I took cuttings 2 weeks ago and they are rooting well.

This is one of two Plectranthus we have and both are keepers.

This is my 6th variety of plectranthus. They are all beautiful (and odiferous) plants. I am alway on the look out for more. My larger ones have waterfalls of flowers. The Zuluqueen turns out to have purple flowers but not the spectacular color of Mona.

How did you root the cuttings? Water, sand, ?

I just got one today - was at a local nursery in a butterfly house, they tell me the butterflies love it so I'm hoping that proves to be the case. Its currently still in a pot on my back (covered) porch.

We rooted in potting mix.
Take 3 leaf joint cutting and strip bottom set off.
Rooting powder dip cutting.
Put in soil, lightly dampen and place in a plastic bag.
Open side DOWN to let excess water condense and drain off.
It rooted in about 2 weeks.

Last year (end of season) I bought 4 of these at a Lowe's clearance sale -- $1 each. I enjoyed them and felt like I had gotten my money's worth out of them. Imagine my surprise at seeing them bloom again this year. Last year they grew fast -- I hope to see the same from them this year.

I'd like to post 'before' and 'after photos if I can get my camera to co-operate.
