Its catch that pod time!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I look at my GL pods daily. Today I looked and as I am, 1 falls off. I look closer and several of the peduncles are sitting there on their own. I knelt down and they are gone! Last year after months of looking at my CDW pods, one day they were gone never to be seen. Now I know, they look fine one day and the next they are soft and done! Do animals eat them?

I wonder if I should just take all the ones off now that were made the same day? 3 are suddenly ripe from that batch. I felt the others and they are still firm, dark green and the peduncle is still green also.

This one was still attached, but it is split up the front and the back and the bottom of the pod is yellowing and feels softened.

I would check them everyday...

I had some brug seeds drying on my kitchen counter last year that dissappeared....turns out I had chipmunks living in the house and they stole them.......so I imagine any rodents can grab them and hide them .......

Kell,
Take a peek and see if the seeds are brown in the firm pod.

Wow look at all those pods.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Would I like to be a chipmunk, swipe those pods, hide them, plant later.....

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I'd pick that one right in front with the crack in it. It's definitely ready. (and do like Glory said, take a peek at the others)

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

This is odd,I was dreaming of Brug seeds last night, could it be a sign?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Gee Kell, are you going to have any seeds this year? LOL!!
I'm with Susie....get that one picked. The one I picked two days ago had totally split open and I'd bet that one would very soon too. Hope you have a great brug or two from all those seed pods.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Yeah yeah, go check those pods! LOL Then mail me some. :) If Tracey started in February and had blooms by what, July??? I think we need to start ours in like November! LOL

Woodburn, OR(Zone 8a)

Pod heaven!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

We all were talking about that last night. We must start ours in February! We want to grow up and be just like Tracey!

LOL. It occurred ot me yesterday that the only way I can grow more seeds if I toss out all the ones I grew this last year!

San Antonio, TX(Zone 9a)

Kell, please toss them my way. LOL

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

But.....but, you can't do that! Make Tom get you a GH, or buy more land.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I am just hoping he won't toss me and my brugs out of here Gloria! LOL

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

I've got mine helping me take care of them, takes pics, hauls the pots around, inside downstairs........If I can do it, you can. Good luck, at least Tom has watered yours, that's a start!

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Kell, if a critter is getting them maybe you can tie up some netting to cover the pods. It won't look pretty but it's such a shame to loose those great crosses to a critter. Maybe an onion bag or old panty hose tied around them will work. At least it might keep them from diappearing if they fall off before you get to them.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Yeah, try some old pantyhose, give the neighbors something to talk about! I'd even get a BB gun, stop that snitching, whoever is doing it!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

LOL Gloria, who knew that you could put terror in the hearts of my neighbors! LOL
