If I keep at least some of my brug seedlings in 4 or 6" pots for the winter, will they be okay in the spring when I plant them in large pots, or will keeping them in the small pots constrict their roots too badly and cause problems later. Donna
Help, Sdlg brugs
I hate to admit this but I still have bruglings in 4 inch pots from this last spring. They just seem to never change. Their sibs are all at least 7 ft tall in the garden. I just never got around to planting them up. When I do, they have no trouble immediately growing. They get huge much faster so it is almost like they know they are way behind. I go to a gallon, then 5 gal then 15.
Kell Thanks, How do you move a 15 gal. container. I have not planted in larger than 5 gal. Donna
I don't think I could lift 15 gal. pots. Will the brugs bloom in 5 gal. sized ones?
I use a dolly! Save the ole' Back! Mini why don't you put yours in the ground? If I lived in that Zone I think I would, and really save my back.
I can plant a few in the ground, but my beds are already so full of plants, that I don't much room left. So the others I will probably move around as they bloom.
The only problem I have found with the smaller pots is you have to water so much and they turn over so easy, even my 15 gallon pots turn over, but not as easy.
I move them by yelling 1 word
TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
but Tom is getting sick of hearing me! He thinks he has a hernia from moving them. If left alone, I drag them.
True Tracey. 5 gallons are impossible to keep upright for the brugs get tall. If you want a really good blooming brug, 15 gallon is a minimum. My best potted brugs are in bigger. I need to buy myself a dolly Tracey. Then I can yell DDDDDDDDDDOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLYYYYYYYYYY TOM!
