How many calyx slits is it supposed to have Brugie?
the questionable Butterfly!
Kell, that is so beautiful & I know you love pink!
if the tendrils were any longer it would remind me of a spider too much!
Kell, I think it should have about 5 slits.
Ahhhhhhhh, just beautiful.
poppysue has one too!!! Brinda, next year maybe we will have great brugs too!
The one in my pic NEVER opens like your second pic Sue. It stays closed. Still very pretty. great color. It looks more like yours Gloria. Do your flowers open wide like in Sue's second pics?
The Buttefly I have at home, though I have had only 2 flowers, opens wide.
When it blooms again I will try to pollinate it with the other Butterfly pollen and see if it takes. None of my creamsickle ones are taking. :((
I brought some of this dark pink pollen home, I have a dropped skirt DW I will put it on. YUM YUM LOL and I guess on my darker Rosamond LOL

the flowers on mine open wide like in Sues second pic
Kell, I've never seen one with that many slits in the calyx. Wonder what it is?
I'm going out and check mine. I just thought that was what I saw last time out there. Be back soon. Hope you know Kell, that I wouldn't do this for many people because it is raining here right now. LOL!!
LOL Brugie, I hope you do not get too wet. This may be a mutant! LOL
Okay, I'm back. Found one bloom and it has three splits in the calyx. I had recently asked someone how many splits were in the calyx of aureas and the answer I got was 5, and I didn't check it out. Cala, how many splits do you see in yours? This one was in the rain for a couple of days and it might not have split right.
Dang, forgot to say that the smell on this one, I just love. Smells somewhat like baby powder to me.

That is gorgeous Kell. I guess that will be the new add to my want list.
Maybe the weather and temps might be some of it. No, mine doesn't open real wide, nor do the tendrils ever turn up! It is 70-80's here, 50-60's nightime. I still love it the best of all, color, long tendrils and smell.
Kell, Butterfly is a multihybrid, not an aurea according to what I can find. Aurea's were what I had asked about, not necessarily Butterfly. Rothkirch was one of the parent's I believe, so it is aurea and whatever the other parent was. I guess I've never seen a PURE aurea.
gosh I hopeI have something special and not diseased....LOL
Of course I have to confiscate it to be mine again.
Yours looks like it could have tons of splits also Susie. Does yours ever open fully?
Brugie, RK is a pure aurea isn't it?
Yes, it is Kell.
Well then I have seen one Brugie.............. LOL.
And when my RK X L'Amour pods ripen, we will see one pretty close to pure.............. LOL
Awwww Kell, you're breaking our hearts here. RK x L has to be the best of the best! Can't wait to see....
lol.... well lets all hope! LOL
Kell, don't ask me questions that require memory to answer!!! I will pay close attention when they bloom.
I have Butterfly from two different sources that I've had a while. I'll watch them both, but best I can remember, they are identical when they bloom.
Susie, you are too young to have memory problems. I never thought I'd be old enough to have memory trouble, but boy, I did get there fast.
Well I don't have this one yet, but I think it may be in a box travelling somewhere near by. :) I sure hope so because it is gorgeous! Do the slits make a difference or is it for identity or what?
Brugie what happened? I would think you'd be so thrilled with the rain you might streak and run joyfully through the rain?!?! Or are you just that thrilled to be free of the hose? :) I am so glad to hear your brugs are finally behaving.
Kell I need a closer look to tell, send it to me, and I will let you know what it is!
LOL Tracey, it is not in my garden yet either! I gave it away thinking I had one. As soon as there are no buds I will tip toe over there and take a few pieces. I was hoping it would sucker me a standard but it hasn't!
