The 'iron' me plant!

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

This plant puts me a bit over the edge I always want to straighten out the leaf. I have issues with ironing, LOL... I never put on a shirt unless it's ironed, even my ratty T's. Never buy clothes that have the wrinkle look or any texture. So as you can see, I've got lots of issues *grin*! This plant does get lots of comments and I really do like it. Although with all the rain it did flop a bit. Still a neat plant.

Seteria Palmifolla variegata- look at the maroon color on the stem. It will grow in full sun or part shade. I'll snap a better picture later. It winters over very easy and roots by breaking off part of the stem and sticking it in water. I'll have cuttings this fall.

Now that is different...I like it...will it grow in water? Like in a pond? Does anyone know..I would love to have a start of it. It looks so neat.....LOL.. no ironing here.... :o)

Cool plant....sun or shade? Kristi, you would probably faint if you ever saw me outside.....my iron probably won't work anymore from not being used. Of course, there is a bit of a difference. I can work out all day and no one will see me since we live in the country. Great plant!!

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Brugie, I'm with you, lol. I told DH if he wanted his shirts and jeans ironed, he would have to buy and iron and do it himself!
Kristi, that's a cute plant, very unusual.

If you guys would like cuttings I should have enough to go around come fall. It does root very easy and takes shade or full sun. I'm not sure if it would grow in water for the long term. Kell I got this from a local gardener last fall. Yes, ironing my clothes is a bit of a addiction- started when I was in the Navy out of necessity.

datdog...I like this one too.Very unique. :-)

Krisi, I'd sure like to try it. Maybe a small cutting could be slipped in with my brugs???? Thanks a bunch. I've just got to find something you don't have.
