Good Price on Nursery pots

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

I just ordered some from Home Harvest but now I wished I had ordered from here... the prices are much better http://www.growersupply.com/nurserypots.html The 5 gal blow mold containers work out to 83¢ each.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

The blow mold ones are thinner walled ones aren't they Sue? That is a good price. What is the biggest size of the black pots that HD sells? 15 gallon? I pay $5 something I think. They are cheaper at your site also. I wonder if postage would ruin the advantage on the biggest ones.

Thank you, Poppysue, for the link. I have had no luck in finding a good source of pots up to now. Looks good to me.

At the end of the growing season, go to a local nursery and ask for their large black nursery pots - the ones they use in their landscaping. They will most likely have a large lot of them left over after they plant large trees in the fall. I have never had a nursery tell me "no", and they are free.

I agree with Kay. If you go to different growers in your area you will likely find some. I go to a wholesale tree company that is only a couple miles from me. I recently asked regarding their extra pots and they told me that they would sell me the 1 gal. for 5 cents each and they a mixture of the blow mold ones and the thicker ones with the lip. Their 15 gal. ones are either 1.25 or 1.35.

I tried asking at my favorite nursery as they already give me plug trays because they pitch them. Being that they are family owned, the send all the big ones back to their main nursery and reuse them. Sigh. I'm still trying landscapers.

I orderd from them the 5 gal pots. Total was 46 dollars and that included the shipping for 40 pots.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I ordered the trade gallon size for $30 for 200. Heck of a deal. Less than a quarter a piece and they are perfect for holding cuttings over the winter. A coffee filter fits right in the bottom so the dirt doesn't come out the holes.

Lucky, lucky me!!! My DH does construction & demoliton. He gives me a call if anything comes up that he thinks that I might like. Sometimes.......he sent out a dumpster load of these pots before it occurred to him that I might want them. It seemed to him like I SURELY had PLENTY of pots, they're everywhere! I explained to him that those were 1 gallon pots that I had lots of, these I REALLY needed! There's a mixture of 3 to 7 gallon pots.

The nurseries around here re-use the big pots... in fact, quite a few of them take used pots back.

Anyone ever use the grow-bags? I ordered 10 to give them a try.

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

I thought about growing bags but I am afraid they would blow over to easy.

the plant labels are a good price. there is a store here in new england called the christmas tree shops. they sell everything at great prices. not just christmas items as the name would lead you to believe. anyhoo. i bought these 2" by 5" plastic plant markers, similar to the ones sold here @ 15 for $1.00. inexpensive and they look a lot better than the plastic window blinds. :) i also was able to get an assortment of 3 types of plant markers, say 3/8" by 3", 4" and 6". 2 packs of 25 for $1.00. these worked great for the seedlings and for transplanting time into the garden beds.

both have enough room to write more than the name. memory is not good, so writing other info on them is important to me. they are selling these type of markers, except they are 1/2" by 4" or 6", 1000 markers.
if i can't find the ones i got again, i will buy these for sure.
thanks for a great sight poppysue.

Thanks for sharing this site poppysue. The prices are great and I'll be ordering pots and labels from them in a few minutes. :-)

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I believe I will place an order on Friday. :) What would you say is the smallest size pot you could put 4' brugs in? What about 6-7' brugs? 99.9% of mine are the alley tree, single trunk style. What size did Monika say she used for permanent pots? I am too tired to go find that answer.

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

I was going to order some five, seven and fifteen gallon pots from them but the postage killed me. LOL For a $120 order the shipping was almost seventy dollars. I don't know if that's a bargain or not. I ordered the gallon pots and some five gallon pots and I have received them

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Has anyone checked into the bulk prices on these? I just sent off an email to check on the blow mold pots in 5 and 7 gallon sizes. I am wondering if the discount is enough to justify shipping twice?
