I guess this is where I introduce myself. My name is James and I don't have the first clue about gardening. My girlfriend is really into it and has the most beautiful flowers. I feel kinda dumb sometimes because we share so much together but I never know what to say when she gets all
excited over a new plant because I just don't have a clue what she's getting so excited about. So I thought I would do a search on the net and try to learn a few things about plants. I stumbled upon this site and thought I would give it a try to see if I could learn a few things. I've been reading some posts and have noticed that you all have a ton of fun with this gardening stuff and other things too. I'm looking forward to reading and learning so the next time my girlfriend gets excited about a new plant, maybe I can say "Hey, that's..............." Wouldn't she be surprised!

So glad to have you with us James, welcome to you from the Coast of Texas.....happy gardening...... :o)
Well I had no idea that I would be welcomed like this. Thank you very much everyone. I want to keep this a secret from her though and if I end up getting plants in the mail or start taking picture of her flowers, I think she will get rather suspicious. I want to wait until at least in the spring as she seems to not be doing so much with the plants right now. I'm just going to take the suggestion of the big notebook and lurk around, taking notes. I've already seen many pictures here of things that she has too and have already learned what some things are. Thank you again for the nice welcome.
James
James, you must be a big hearted guy, your girlfriend will truly be amazed at all the things you have learned about plants and gardening when she finds out where you have been lurking. Now, the hard part is gonna be keeping the secret. What fun! I love secrets like this. Welcome to Davesgarden, we'll see you around.
Why thank you MaryE. Sofar the secret hasn't been revealed yet and I hope it stays that way as I'm sure learning quite a bit. That plant database thing is a killer for learning stuff as it has pictures and all and that sure does help
Welcome, James! You will be amazed at the garden world that will unfold for you at this site! You'll learn all kinds of good stuff! I've joined recently and find myself drawn here frequently. Jen
