Marbled brug

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

This is the corolla edge of Pink Favorite. Check out the white marbling in the pink. Is this normal for this one?

Is it just now opening? If so, I'll bet the marbling will be gone tomorrow. I liked the shape of the bloom and the color when mine bloomed, but would never plant it in full sun again. It just couldn't take it.

This is an older bloom, Shirley. The marbling starts out when they open but you don't notice it as much until the color darkens.

I hope it's not something bad. Maybe it's the cold weather?

I'll watch mine when the weather cools some and see what happens to it. That should be a couple of days from now unless the weatherman is wrong again. He has been wrong so much this year, it isn't worth watching the weather anymore.

How could something so pretty be bad Sue? LOL. It is so pretty marbled. Was it just this one or are all doing it?

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

They all do that. I don't recall the first blooms being like that... but I probably wouldn't have noticed anyway....

So pretty.

Murrells Inlet, SC(Zone 8a)

this is my ecuador pink and this flower is 2 days old so it should have been all pink by now. We are having night temps in the low to mid 60's so maybe that is why the flowers are starting to have a marbled effect. Ecuador pink seems to be the only one that has done it though.

I've had a few where the color comes in sorta swirl-ish like that. I think it's more noticeable in cooler weather. It takes a couple days for the color to even out.

This marbling is little different. The pink color is even throughout the corolla but the marbling is more like white veining... you don't really see unless you get up close to the bloom to examine it.

See it now, very strange.....probably the weather, as nothing else acted right this year either. Tomatoes were a disaster from trying to start seeds to getting red tomatoes, now they are rotting inside, anoher bad year, two in a row.

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

I think one of the prettiest brug pics I have taken was of the Dr. Suess bloom in cool weather. Post of both summer and cool weather bloom.

too bad we can't start a trend here by keeping some of these flowers looking marbled like this through hybridizing
