Hey Kell...

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

You said take a picture of anything so here is a tiny bud on First Day. :) If it is slightly blurry, it is because I did not use a tripod and I have been up all night. LOL

How about a hummer on a canna? This one was big and I cropped it.

Looks good, Chele. I wanna see how that 10x zoom works. You otta have fun with that!

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Okay then, bee on Sedum. LOL I'll quit now. Kell, I'll have to get you one when it is dark. I don't have to work tonight, so let's see if I can be awake when it is dark!!!

you are so sweet Chele! I need to see more....LOL! Is it hard to use? is the manual hard. I hate manuals. The hummer one is FANTASTIC!! Did you use the zoom on that one? Is it easy to change settings? What kind of macro does it have, how close? is this one 5 megapixels? is there a good point and click auto button if all else fails me??? LOL

I went to your site you told me about. I am now so confused I may never get a new camera! or perhaps I should get 3 of them!

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Well, if you don't have any questions....ROTF Yes, it is pretty easy. I have only looked up how to use the macro, how to erase the memory card and how to do portraits. For the most part I have been shooting in automatic. No brains, pick it up, choose whether or not to zoom, then shoot. The portrait setting makes the close up clean and blurs the back ground. I need to do some reading to figure out the special features but for the most part, the pics here are just zoom and shoot. The hummer shot is from about 15 feet. I turned on the macro for the bee. It is a 4.0 megapixel with 10x optical zoom. That is about the best zoom to be had, well unless you have thousands to spend. LOL The manual looks scary, but it is in three different languages. :)

Marshfield, MO(Zone 6a)

What kind of camera is this again?

San Antonio, TX(Zone 9a)

Badseed, that hummer picture is just great. Looks like a picture on a calendar. He is really going after that nectar. LOL

When do you ever sleep? Don't know how you do it with 5 kids, a husband, and another one on the way. (Baby, that is, not husband.) LOL

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

LOL MiniG! I have a feeling Chele could handle another husband. Nothing seems to ruffle her!

Sounds too good to be true Chele! Tell me it is the size of a cigarette pack and I am sold! LOL

Can't wait to see the night time photo.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Mary, I bought the Olympus 750. I have only had it about a week and have barely had time to play with it. There is info about it on the Camera Talk forum.
To be honest Mini, I could use some sleep about NOW! What I would give for grandparents! LOL I guess I'll get a nap in a bit when the youngest is ready. I don't want to snooze through chat tonight. LOL I cut back to four nights a week but only work two in a row. The second one is a killer. Three-four hours of sleep a night, well, it ain't enough. :) Hmmm, another husband may not be bad if he is younger, healthier and wealthier than the one I have! giggle

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Actually, it would be only a little bigger than a cigarette pack, if not for the zoom. You can easily carry it in one hand. I'd take a pic.... but I don't think it could find itself! LOL LOL

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Michele, your pictures are great. I love the one with the bee. What kind of price did you have to give for this? I have an Olympus 400 and am going to have to get the manual out and start learning. Only had it about three years. LOL!!

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Brugie, it was $599. I bought it from Cameta Cameras, through Ebay. That is the price anywhere around here as well. But for $20 more, I got rechargeable batteries, spare rechargeable batteries, a charger, a 128 mb memory card, a mini tripod and the Olympus camera case. I didn't really want to spend that much, but it has what I want and I know it will be several years before I get a new one. My last one lasted almost five years. :)

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Great price for all of the accessories too. 5 years? Oh gosh, that means I have to deal with mine a while longer, unless we hit the lottery.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Pssst...shhhhh, hey if you drop it or something you have no choice right? giggle snicker No, that is not what I did! LOL I think whatever held the memory in mine just plum wore out. One day it worked, one day it was a huge ERROR and nothing more. Oddly enough, I had just had hubby take a pic of me so I could update my page. Maybe my face broke it!!! LOL

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I did not even realize I got this one until I was just running through a 'slide show'.

And this one. :)

Wow, that is great. She is a pretty little thing. Mine are eating over a quart of juice each day now. Sure keeps me busy filling feeders.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Can anyone tell me for sure if that plant is Penstemon or Red Lobelia?? It is supposed to be Penstemon Huskers Red.

Thanks Brugie. I have never had feeders and they spend more time here on my flowers than on my neighbors feeders. The neighbors gave up. LOL

Okay Kell, it's not dark yet but the sun has gone behind my house. This is a Datura about to open.

It is Lobelia cardinalis http://www.virtualinsectary.com/plants/plant_26.htm . Here is a pic of Penstemon 'Husker Red' from the database. http://plantsdatabase.com/showpicture/19587/

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Thanks Susie. I really started to wonder when it got between 5-6 feet tall. LOL Then I read on another forum that it should have white flowers.

Ellabell, GA(Zone 8a)

Badseed, those last two hummer photos are amazing!
It's almost unreal how sharp they are.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Thank you! I didn't even realize I had them. LOL I am going to have to work on my timing though. The poor guy is missing his wings. :0

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Well I never have said this before!
Seed may I use you pics as wallpaper?LOL!!!!
If you say yes, then I have to pick which one! They are all great!Keep them coming!
Root.

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

Great shots.

Milo, IA(Zone 5a)

They are all beautiful pics. I just love to watch the hummers.

Marshfield, MO(Zone 6a)

The hummers here are going crazy, too. I have often wondered where they take those pics you see on hummingbird feeder boxes that have many feeding on one feeder. They are so territorial here, there are never more than one on the feeders at a time.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

They are beautiful shots Chele. One of the cameras I read about last night takes 3 quick pics in a row I wonder if yours was the one that did that!

HOWEVER......... LOL ..... how is the macro? I think I need a merge between the Nikon and the Olympus for the features I want!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

SO I wonder what is the difference and how much of a difference there is between the 4 and 5 megapixels? I just want the high megapixels for the shots I crop. Anyone know?

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Those are great, Michele! Did you use the zoom for the hummer shots? How far away from it were you?

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Kell, the easiest way to understand the importance of megapixels and zoom is this (I hope): The higher the megapixel, the better quality LARGE pics you can make/print. But, you are supposed to center your subject and zoom in on it. So if you center and have a kick butt zoom, you shouldn't need to cut so much if at all. Make sense??
Sue,I used the zoom for the hummer. I was about 15 feet away. I used the macro for the brug bud and the bee. I might be dangerous if I really knew how to use this thing. LOL

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Kell, I don't know how you could improve on what are already perfect shots.

Marshfield, MO(Zone 6a)

Kell, I looked at some of the features after seeing these pics that were so nice. I currently have a Nikon coolpix 900, old but reliable, until NOW! I called Nikon and the cheapest repair price is $96, well, I can buy a working one on Ebay for less than that, so I decided it is time to buy a new camera. I put a bid in on a Olympus C5050, it has macro AND super macro. Doesn't have quite as much zoom as Chele's has, but I need the macro feature more than the zoom. And, you can get a telephoto lens for it to increase the zoom too. It is 5 megapixel and pretty decent price for that.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

That sounds great Mary! (Did you get my E and pp?) I bought mine through Ebay too. The company is Cameta, I think in New York. They were great to deal with and got the camera to me one day early! They even threw in a bag of candy! I would have had my Kodak fixed but it was the same deal as your Nikon. Some ridiculous fee just to look at it whether they fixed it or not!

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Oh Chele the pics are awesome. Better watch out or I'll make you into a bird photographer like me.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Thank you! I saw your pics birdlady. :) They are super nice!!!

Marshfield, MO(Zone 6a)

Yep, Chele, sure did, thanks. Let me know if the cuttings don't make it, and we can round up some more.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

It looked good and firm today, even had lenticels forming. I'll keep an eye on it. :) Thanks again!

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Chele, beautiful pix. I need one of those cameras. LOL

Tonasket, WA(Zone 5a)

Badseed, your photos are gorgeous. Love the hummingbirds. My nearly one year old (and don't know yet how to send the pics from camera to computer) I've sent the pictures but yesterday when i tried couldn't get from ppd to jpeg. Mine is Olympus Camedia D 40zoom , which is only about half as good as yours I think as far as zoom is concerned. Wish I understood taking pictures like you do. Donna
