How to kill roots of Brugmansia

Corpus Christi, TX(Zone 9a)

I sawed the plant down and dug out what roots that I could, but there are still roots there. I plan to move an esperanza to that spot. How can I make sure that the monster is deadv

You KILLED your brugmansia???. It should be dead if you dug out the big roots.

Corpus Christi, TX(Zone 9a)

Oh, Calalily, I hope so!! The plant was just too big for the spot and required more food and water than my bananas and elephant ears or gingers. The esperanza blooms almost year round here and will look much better in the location.
Thanks for replying.

Will you still be growing brugmansia in another spot?

San Antonio, TX(Zone 9a)

I can't imagine someone intentionally killing a brugmansia. If it was planted in a spot where I didn't want it, I would have either dug it up and potted it, or taken cuttings to root. I bet all the people on the brug forum that are begging for cuttings would cry if they saw this.

I bet nobody can imagine killing a rose,I had to hook my truck on one to get it out,it just depends on what you want to spot to be.

Good thing you didn't post this in the Brug. forum!
Love your sense of humor justmelisa!!

Lily, I saw her pitiful brug. It was so sad. Poor little thing, hadn't grown an inch in a year(actually may have shrunk a bit).

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Really,probably easier to say,Who has not killed a Brug?I have,not by choice.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I have, by choice. When you start growing seeds, you'll find that you don't keep them all because they aren't the greatest brug you ever saw and so what do you do........whack it down, dig it out, and compost. I've also composted some big bloomers that I've just had to get rid of to make room for newer varieties.

Can anyone tell me about the proper care for the Tacoma Stans? Fertilizer? Water needs? I know they need sun. I have an orange one that hasn't bloomed a single bloom since I got it. I know it is orange because it had bloom when it got here. My yellows are blooming nicely. Thanks.

lol. Leave it to Lisa

Actually I had to dig up a couple here as well; got too big for their own good in their spot. I have 2 more by the front porch that is absolutely taking over and need to be out, put oh mercy, the digging that I will have to do. It's blooming right now, so will wait till later in the fall. Will probably put roses in their place

San Antonio, TX(Zone 9a)

Now, the two big rose bushes that I have are what I want dug up and thrown away. One of them grows so fast that you can cut it way back, and within a week it is growing out over the flowerbed. Its thorns are ferocious and its flowers are not that pretty. I think it is a cool weather rose, because it was supposed to be pale pink, but except in cool weather, the flowers are a muddy white. Needless to say, here in South Texas it is not cool that much. The other one is really not that pretty either, and I would much rather have a beautiful pink brug in its place. So, I guess to you rose lovers out there, you can't imagine someone wanting to intentionally kill a rose bush. Guess we are even. LOL

Probably for the best then....sometimes a humane death
is much kinder than a life of depravation...justmeLisa
just wasn't meant for Brugs. Better start a Brug Blacklist
Calalily!! ;~)
