I pulled my EE Black Magic from the water yesterday. It is completely pot bound with roots coming off the top of the soil! It is growing nicely, however. I plan on overwintering it. Should I repot now or wait until spring?

I would think you might want to pot it now and give it extra water, then slowly let up to accustom it to being inside, unless it will still be aquatic inside. I'm afraid to look at mine. I didn't pot them. I just stood them in pea gravel in the veggie filter. LOL

Thanks Badseed. EE's cant take temperatures lower than 50 degrees, is that right?

That sparks another question, how do you feed them when they are in water? I've been pouring diluted MG right into the water......

About your EE, so you will pull it and pot it for overwintering too? Or is your pond heated, and you leave them in all winter?

My first time growing these and I'm clueless!

I am still trying to figure that out myself! LOL My pond is not heated. I am in zone 6. They will have to come in. The ones with tubers can be stored but I don't think the running types can. The ones I have growing in the veggie filter are easily 4-5 feet tall. They feed off the nutrients in the water. I have a creek bed above the veggie filter so the water comes out of the pond, through one then through the other. They are doing fine with no supplements from me. I usually let my tuber ones take a frost to kill them back some then I just store the root. I guess I'll be potting and lugging in the running ones.
