My brugling garden just took off when my mind had gone!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

but thank God it came back to me today and I can't believe what I saw. I knew I had 1 Y but no others........... and today I am looking and right in front I have huge Ys and even a good size bud!! When it happened I do not know! Too bad I can't get to the back of it to see what is happening there.

See my first ever self germinated brugling bud! It is dead center in the shadows.

Way to go Kell!! I bet its a beauty.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

You are a good momma! Let's watch this thing closely.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

LOL, so good I looked but did not see! The kind of mother every teenager would kill for!

And look at this Y on this one. It actually did not Y it thirded! Then each third did Y, and then Yed again and again and I never noticed. It is Rosamond X L'Amour! And Ohhhhhhh PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE let it look just like Rosamond but have the color of L'Amour! LOL LOL

How much longer before bloom? I love seeing the new seedlings.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

That just ain't fair! LOL

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

You and me both Brugie! And I do not even care if they are not mine. I find it so thrilling. Much more than even a very special brug I get but have never seen it bloom but know what it will look like. Somehow not having a clue of what it will be like but having the possiblilty that it can be anything drives me crazy with desire to see it! When I say to you that it will kill me if you or Kristi have to cut yours down before they frost when they have not bloomed, makes me nuts, it is true!

OK OK before any of you say it. I will...... more nuts!

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Kell, this is looking just like one of my Rm x LA seedlings. The bud looks very .... angular (is that a word?) Big leaves too. I have one with 2-inch buds. Got my fingers crossed that it will open before frost. There's a couple others that have Yed bud I don't think they'll have enough time to open.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Happy Dancing with you!!!!Doing a twirl now!!!
Even giving you a little of the CC chicken dance!!!

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

This is so exciting!! Those leaves are huge Kell! Wow!
Poppysue I will keep my fingers crossed that you get flowers before frost.

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Me too ;)

If mine turn out white... I think I'll die!

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Shhhh......don't say the w word.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Who are you dancing with Root? I only dirty dance. LOL

Gosh Sue, I could not stand it to watch all summer and then have the frost come too early. I have had cuttings with buds on them open for me in water. I admit the flower was stunted but it did open and look like a smaller version of what it normally would look like!

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

The toughest part is gonna be deciding what can't come in this year. I have too many to take them all in... and then there's all the seedlings that haven't bloomed yet.

How do you decide?

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Sue, last year I took cuttings of the seedlings I wanted to see bloom and brought them in. I stuck a bunch in a pot like Glory does. When it warmed up in spring, they started growing really fast.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

you will just have to take cuttings of all your bruglings that have not flowered above the Y so they bloom early next season!

You can't throw away a chance at the prettiest brug known to man!

I still say we should have a place to post all our brugling pics (bad and good) under the cross names so we can see which crosses have more potential then others.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Wow, you gals have it all......

Sure hope they are all in COLOR!

Anticipation!

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

I was planning to dig the special crosses. I cut quite a few off at soil level last year and rooted them that way. I might have to do tip cuttings this year to save space... I hate to tho... seems like such a waste.

I'm not looking forward to bringing them in.

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

Kell how could you NOT see that, LOL... I'm SO excited for you. I love the foliage. I'll be doing a pink dance under the moon for you tonight.

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Kell - I'm putting seedling photos in a journal entry. Bad & good. It helps me keep track of them.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

for it to work Kristi, yo have to do it naked!

Suzz..that huge one is your baby.

I really need to learn how to use my journal on Dave's. Is that where you are doing yours Sue? It would be nice though to have ALL of our tries in one place.

city?? lol sticks, AR(Zone 7a)

is it just me or do seedlings seem to grow faster then cuttings? I have seedlings that are growing like they are on steriods, but cuttings that dont really grow much at all?

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Seedlings do seem to grow faster than cuttings and the juvenile leaves are usually pretty big.

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

Kell, sure does look good! way to go , girl!

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

I am excited too Kell and I can hardly wait to see what it looks like. The foliage and the size of it are amazing. I will keep my fingers crossed for you but there will be no dancing under the full moon naked for hopes of you getting a lavender brug . . LOL

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Ha! Me neither Frannie! That would kill them for sure!

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Oh I love the huge leaves. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.
