I have a couple of babies in 1 gal pots that have a decided list despite my rotating them away from the sun frequently. I am going to move them up to larger pots. Should I plant the stems straight or let mother nature take its course?
They're Crooked.
When my seedlings go crooked I stake ASAP or live to regret it. I have found once they have a kink, it is hard to get it out for it sets. Of course if you are growing a bush type it won't matter so much.
If they are really tiny or thin, bamboo skewers are perfect! Go ahead, SOME of you, laugh like you did the first time! LOL
I have lots of crooked ones - that look ridiculous! You'd think I would have learned to stake them by now... but nope.
me too Sue, and I always live to regret it. I am such a pathological procrastinator!
if it will bloom----i say :P"" I have some wanna be alley trees with crooked trunks and I just pretend its got this sorta asian bonsia ummmmmm asymetrical sorta thing going on... lol funsiaish sorta kinna maybe not.
Thanks everybody! Chele, I would never laugh at bamboo skewerrs. When the 99 cent store has the 250 for a buck ones I buy lots. Aren't they a gardening staple? The kids are trained to save the wooden chopsticks from oriental food too. LOL. Out I go to repot the children.
LOL frogsrus....I have some children if you have the extra time!
I just wanted to say thanks to everyone. I just received my first Brug cuttings and I've been reading all I can soak up the past few weeks and have learned so very much about this beautiful plant. DG is a greeeeeeeat place!
Brinda :)
Brinda, I'm back. Repotting is a weekly chore here in the land where it never frosts. There is always some project to move to a bigger pot and the hanging plants are the never ending chore, monsters that they are. We like to play in dirt. Dirt is good. Sure just send those children to me (Hee Hee) I will take care of them.
Well then FrogsRus, with such a great place you are living in, we will expect very special brug pictures from you!
Kell, I hope so. My neighbor around the corner has some that have had me drooling for years.
We would love to see her too drool for brugs also! LOL. You know BrugsRus!! LOL
I just came in from potting up some freshly received cuttings from a wonderful brugger. Don't want to say who, because she is already overwhelmed. She is a wonderful lady though. Also, I need to run to a nearby landscaping nursery and purchase some used 1 gal. pots to plant some small brugs that I purchased from Ebay. I noticed that some of those plants are growing crooked, so I'm going to also purchase some of the smaller bamboo stakes at their retail garden center next door to the landscaping office. Boy did I make a mess on the patio. I've go to clean up the dirt, or my husband is going to have a fit. He's not much of a plant lover anyway, and he is already upset with my covering the patio with brugs. I keep telling him I will move them out into the flowerbeds next Spring, but he says I must think we still live on 11 acres like we did until we moved into this house. He says there is no way we have room for all them when they grow up. LOL Oh well, you know how it is with children - you wouldn't part with any of them. LOL I'll find room somewhere.
LOL yall. I'm glad I'm not the only one who has to put up with a husband fussing about plants. I was told he would mow down anything else I planted in the yard. So far he hasn't. Keeping my fingers crossed.
