Ground Cover & Oriental Lilies?

Albany, CA(Zone 9a)

Does anyone have a good combination of ground cover and Oriental Lilies? I planted a wild ginger with mine, but I think the ginger root system was too dense (about 3-4 inches deep) and it may have choked the lilies.

I know that lilies like to have their "feet in the shade and their heads in the sun" but I'm not sure what to put on their "feet".

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Sue

I just mix mine in with other perennials. They seem to like the company.
