Okay, the GF have spawned.
There are little eggs on my lily and look like what I've read to be GF eggs.
I think they ate most of them though.
Noticed them as I was cleaning the pond.
Wonder if they will hatch.
Hope at least some make it to adulthood,LOL!
Fish have spawned
None of our fish have ever spawned. The onlt eggs that were ever on the lily or the lotus were snail eggs.........and we never put a snail in the pond in the first place so I don't know how they got there, but we sure had snails after they hatched. The fish and frogs ate most of them before they could grow.
If you have some hornwort or other ferny aerators in
your pond (lots) they will give the baby fish somewhere
to hide.
Lotusblossum the snails got into your pond from eggs
that were attached to plants that you bought. I never
introduced any either and am constantly destroying their
eggs and any adults that I catch. The snail eggs
are in a slimy clear mass about half and inch long and
1/6" wide.
Pretty sure these arent snail eggs,lol.
I do know now that they arent fertile,ack.
Ive been checking all over the pond,hoping to see a few babies stuck to the sides,so far no luck,lol.
Next year maybe it will be better.

;~) Once they are successful you'll be wondering what to
do with them all. My dad has ~200 young (that he knows
he has) and has been checking every garage sale going to
get a few more tanks-I'm afraid of the numbers he will find
once he starts moving the fish and plants inside for the
winter!
Just give the babies some water plants and/or stacked rocks. They will find cover in among the plants or nestled in among the stones.
Yeah Crimson...for all the fact that females rule the earth,especially that part right around my house, You can't get any babies without the guys! Sounds like a case of lacking the ole X chromosone to me.
There are plenty of males in the pond kiki, they just didnt fertilize the eggs,:O.
They are LAZY man fish!!!!!!
